"…the human psyche, like human bones, is strongly inclined towards self-healing. The psychotherapist's job, like that of the orthopaedic surgeon, is to provide the conditions in which self-healing can best take place."

During the Covid-19 restrictions, we are working with clients remotely, using video calls and phone.

Many people are feeling uncertain and destabilised during the current public health crisis so, to help at this difficult time, we also offer some free mental health resources here.

The Montpellier Psychotherapy Practice was established in 2009 by Graeme Galton and Myriam Laplanche to meet the need for experienced and skilled psychotherapists in central London.

We provide psychotherapy and counselling to help clients with a variety of issues and emotional difficulties, including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • relationship and family problems
  • bereavement
  • stress and burn-out
  • addictions
  • self-harm
  • eating disorders
  • post-traumatic stress
  • dissociation
  • feeling stuck
  • facing a difficult life change

We offer short-term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy tailored to suit clients' specific needs. We provide psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, relational psychotherapy and attachment-based psychotherapy.

Short-term counselling can be helpful when going through a difficult or challenging period, while longer-term psychotherapy can be more far-reaching and offer greater opportunity for personal change and development. The sessions are 50 minutes in length and take place at the same time on the same day each week. The charge for the initial consultation is £95. Following this, our fees range from £70 to £150 per session depending on time of day, frequency and circumstances.

We provide a safe and supportive setting for clients sharing difficult personal experiences and feelings. We practise safe, expert talking therapy marked by curiosity, respect and kindness.

Please contact us for more information or to arrange an initial consultation at our consulting rooms in Bloomsbury, central London.

MOT of the Mind: Extended one-off consultation

We believe that emotional wellbeing should be given the same importance as physical health. Consulting a psychotherapist should be as accessible and normal as consulting any other health professional. With this aim, we also offer the option of an extended stand-alone consultation lasting 75 minutes. This could be likened to an MOT of the mind, an in-depth conversation with a skilled therapist to help you stop, take stock and consider your life and relationships. The fee for this consultation is £120.

The Montpellier Psychotherapy Practice is committed to addressing issues of prejudice and discrimination in relation to the mental wellbeing, political belief, gender and gender identity, sexual preference or orientation, disability, marital or partnership status, race, nationality, ethnic origin, heritage identity, religious or spiritual identity, age or socio-economic class of individuals or groups.
